Are Calendars Still Effective?

The early re-order discount window for calendars is here (these discounts are generally about 20% off regular prices)…companies believe it or not are deciding on whether to order their 2016 calendars right now! When we discuss calendars with businesses, one of the most common questions we get is, “Is a printed calendar still relevant?”

There is actually research done on this topic which we will review shortly, but first, we can first rely on our own observation and experience. I don’t know about you, but when I am attentive, I see printed calendars everywhere! I see them still on walls and refrigerators at friends homes with scribble notes in the boxes full of activities. I see them pinned to cubicle walls. I see desk pad calendars in offices that I visit and I see them attached to computer monitors as well. I trust that if you raise your awareness you will see them too!

Now for the research…in the most recent study, here are the findings…

-7 out of 10 households and nearly 8 of out 10 businesses that received an advertising calendar remembered the advertiser and the product or service being promoted.

-And the same number of households and businesses said that they plan to use the services of the advertiser in the future.

-Over 50% of the business and households reported having a more favorable impression of the advertiser after receiving the calendar.

-40% of the households and nearly 50% of the businesses reported referring someone to the advertiser

-Calendars are referenced on average between 2 to 10 times per day giving the advertiser many regular impressions which means they get high top of mind awareness.

So what does this mean to you? Calendars come in many different styles, from magnetic, removable decals, traditional wall calendars, desk blotter style, pocket calendars and event wallet size calendars. With the average calendar running under $3 and some available for under fifty cents the question you need to ask yourself is…can I afford not to do a calendar considering the average cost per impression runs about a quarter of penny! While every business’ ROI will be different…if you spent $500 on calendars how many new clients or transactions would it take your company to get a return on its investment?

Also, you would be surprised to know completely custom calendars are very affordable as well. Custom calendars allow you to use your own images (highlighting your business or city), can mark special dates on the calendar and you can even incorporate coupons or special offers if you would like!
